We were excited to do business with Barrett Roofing of Knoxville TN until it took them over a month to show up to put a metal roof on our single wide mobile home. Once they sent someone, we learned that Barrett Roofing does not do metal roofs themselves. They contract the job out to someone else. The man (Jeff Elkins) who sub contracted the job then sub contracted out the job to another team. In the end it was a 3rd party team that actually did the job and a very poor job at that. The metal has visible waves all throughout, the metal coming off of the back is all uneven. They left their trash thrown in our yard as well as supplies. We had 3 vents on our roof, but now have 2 due to the fact that they cut one of our vents off and covered it with metal and left the vent hood itself thrown in our yard. We then investigated and learned there was no underlayment (Hydro-block) laid under the new metal which was laid on top of the old metal. In our contract we agreed to the underlayment and never received it at all. It has now been 7 months since we first contacted Barrett Roofing and just yesterday Mr. Barrett showed up to look at the problem. He has someone on our roof drilling and then they left and we have not heard back from him. We most definitely would NOT recommend Barrett Roofing for your metal roofing needs! Very poor business, very poor job at working with us and replying back to us, and very poor quality of work! All of this and Barrett Roofing demands payment on a $9,719.00 job that is not fixed and has been full of nothing but false promises. This job is not even worth $2,000.
     Beth Bowen - 5/19/2014 - I understand your disgusting, I'm currently dealing with this so called contractor.Just as you said Jeffrey contracted it out to Sammy Pickel, This man knows nothing about metal roofing, he's a gutter guy, not a very good one at that. I plan on doing everything I can to put these crooks out of business, Im in the process of filing complaints with the BIBB, The Division of Regulatory Board Administration, Then get my own legal counsel. I would advise you to do the same if you feel you've been mislead and cheated as I have.
