- Damaged furnishings and attitude about the damage - - Linda Register - 4/29/2013 - comment
We hired Minorcan to remove our furnishings and store them while our home was undergoing a replumb, drywall & ceiling repairs, new flooring, etc. At first everything seemed fine until I witnessed them loading some of our furnishings onto the truck without first wrapping them, as I was told they would do. I questioned them about this and they said "not to worry, that everything would be unloaded in the warehouse and properly wrapped before being put into the storage bins". After nearly 2-months, our furnishings were delivered back to us, and the following damages we experienced were as follows: 1) Buffet - entire bottom rack was broken off. I was sick about this. Minorcan (Craig) assured me that they have a great guy that does their repairs and we would not be able to tell that it was ever broken off. The repair was fixed okay but it was painted with white paint and the piece was a cream color.....they refuse to do anything about this so I am to live with it..I guess! 2) Our almost new king bedding set - the twin bottom piece was torn....No fix for this and no compensation! 3) Our 2-drawer lateral file cabinet that is Florida Furniture and extremely heavy was dropped by them and damaged, which they tried to cover up....they said it could not be fixed and it was approx 30lbs so they are sending a check for $18.00.....the piece weighs a LOT more than 30lbs! $18.00 hardly covers the damage! 4) They literall dropped the bookcase part of the credenza while I was standing there watching them and it came apart -this was the ONLY piece they actually fixed. I am very upset and Minorcan's attitude is....oh well! Please check around before calling Minorcan Movers!!!!!
