Mr Blair visited my house for a home inspection. Every single item on his list contradicted the next. He brought a roofer that opened holes in my roof without my knowledge and cracked tiles on my roof. Mr Blair is lucky I did not waste both our times in court. Do not let this guy in your house.
     Edward Blair - 8/29/2016 - I don't know who you are or why you are saying these things about my company. No roofer I have ever hired has ever opened holes in a roof. This has never happened.

Edward Blair, the home inspector, when looking at a cooktop with a griddle and a downdraft venting did not know to check where it was venting to. An easy check: pull the drawer and look. We end up venting all the crap and fumes from cooking into a cabinet under the cooktop. The absence of the vent was discovered just recently, 6 years after his inspection. We’ve used the cooktop few times during vacations and now are planning to move in full time, but won’t be able to cook unless costly modifications are made. In his report he indicated that “Exhaust ventilation appears serviceable” – a misrepresentation and false statement that let us to believe that there was ventilation. He did not check. Otherwise he would’ve seen that the “Exhaust ventilation” was missing. Incredible ignorance, lack of knowledge that resulted in negligence on his part! Contacted recently his response was: “Don’t use the griddle and do your greasy cooking on the balcony”! Good advice that would’ve been appropriate in his inspection report, it would’ve given us a clue about the problem. In addition, after been specifically asked to check all appliances, the only appliance he did not check was the refrigerator. Again, an easy check: just turn it on and open the door. It turned out that the refrigerator was broken, and there was a footnote in his inspection report that of all the appliances in the apartment only refrigerator was excluded. The footnote was so tiny that we missed it. It begs the question - why? Did somebody else asked him to exclude it? I cannot think of any other reason. Mr. Blair was recommended to us by the real estate broker. My opinion - avoid his services.
     Edward Blair - 8/29/2016 - This person did not want to show up at the home inspection. Six years after the inspection, and after not having read the inspection report, elected to call me out of the blue and demand that his kitchen be remodeled at my expense. All of the items he mentioned on his review were clearly spelled out on his report, yet he still seems to think we are incorrect. This post was only listed after he attempted to shake me down after six years! He then threatened to go on line and ruin me by posting this on line. Well, I do 600 inspections a year, all of them on referral and have been here for going on 18 years. This man is simply trying to get me to pay to remodel his condo kitchen so he can cook hamburgers inside. Now you know

As a first time home buyer, I really didn't know what issues to look for before buying my dream home. I am so grateful to Ed Blair of Southern Home inspections!! There were two separate houses that I thought were "THE ONE". They looked great to me.... thank goodness I was informed about the problems they had. Mr. Blair saved me so much future aggravation and expense. He came out, inspected the house and got me the report the same day. I am now a happy informed homeowner. Mr. Blair was professional, friendly and very efficient. I would highly recommend Southern Home Inspections to any potential buyer!
