I’ve been here for close to two years now. The first 6 months were great then winter came. Roaches, I don’t mean 1 or 2. Double digits, came in like a flood. Every night. Pest control did come but the guy was very honest and he let us know that during the winter time there is nothing they can really do because the building is so old and the cabinets attract the roaches. Maintenance get a bad reputation because they aren’t worth a thing. I was pregnant in the summer of 2018. Pregnancy brain kicked in and I locked myself out the house with the stove on. A maintenance guy came, with the keys and said it will be a $100 charge to let me in but he would personally do it for $70. Yeah no thank you ... gladly a police officer came and helped. School kids will randomly trespass in your building, smoke and even throw water bottles at your doors, in the hallway and just scream at the top of their lungs. (This happened for a week and I had to file a police report) there really is no security at Belcrest whatsoever. No cameras and no sense of security. With that being said a recent killing took place in my building. Yes killing, it’s crazy :( This neighborhood is very quiet to an extent so that threw me off. That’s not why I’m moving however, they are increasing my rent by $200. They did not provide a reason other than that they want to. A murder took place in my building and your solution is to raise the rent? They did change staff earlier this year so maybe that has something to do with it. You should really make Belcrest your last option, I mean your very last after the homeless shelter.
