I hired Jay Gallagher to fix a leak in a skylight in a copper roof. He was recommended by a contractor that my friend had used. He seemed nice initially. I went on the roof with him and he pointed out the seam that was open that he felt was the definite source of the leak. I paid him $2000 for a job that he estimated would take two guys two days to complete. In actuality, the job only took him about two hours. There were no leaks for four months, but usually the leak only appeared during a heavy storm. One week ago during a significant storm we had a significant leak. We called Jay and he came out and he said the seam he had fixed had still held, and the leak must be coming from somewhere else. I expressed my frustration that the $2000 we paid and the seam that he sealed was not likely the source of the leak, since the water stain and leak was coming through the exact same place as before. He became belligerent, and hung up on me twice. I have never before dealt with such an unprofessional contractor. Please look for a more reputable roofer, as Mr. Gallagher does not honor his warranty and instead makes up excuses about other causes for leaks. It was a very unpleasant experience working with him, and I regret the loss of time and money.
