I had the complete opposite experience with John. I had a clogged kitchen sink the week before Christmas. After an exhaustive battle with my homeowners insurance company and their incompetent plumbers who disappeared or couldn’t come until after Christmas, I found John on Craigslist Christmas Eve. He showed up within a few hours after. He told me his fee up front and came back the next day to finish the work. He didn’t charge me for the first day and was very professional. Granted it was a smaller job but it was important since I hadn’t had a sink for a week and was hosting Xmas Eve dinner for 12. He left at 1PM and I was able to finally clean my kitchen and host my dinner. It’s been a week and so far so good!

I referred John to my client to do a work in the unit. He asked twice for the deposits. My client is nice and gave him the deposit by check. John told us that he will return the deposit if the work is not approved. Months later, the HOA cannot approve him for the work, but he is saying he wasted too much time on the work and will not return the deposit. I have been with him, helping my client, for applying for the permit, I know how much time he spent. Ran to the city hall twice and went to HOA office twice. It is just the HOA takes longer time. I even offered him return half the deposit. He will not. I want everyone know that check the review before hiring any contractors.

John never comes when he says he will. He gets the work done on his clock, which is inconvenient to the customer.

Plumber has many years of experience but cannot focus long enough to finish the work. He does not follow a schedule and comes and goes as he wants. He makes up the bill as he goes, leaving you with an expensive bill that is ongoing. Ultimately, you will end up paying someone else to finish his work.

John is a nice enough guy with many years of plumbing experience, but unless you have a small simple plumbing job to do, I would not recommend him.  John did a LARGE plumbing job on my extensive home renovation, which ultimately took way longer and cost significantly more than he originally estimated.  John is not good about staying focused and always seems to have excuses why the cost keeps increasing and he needs more money!  When it was all over and done one of the supply pipes John installed sprung a leak while I was out of town and flooded my house (50K in damages).  If that wasn't bad enough, John then suggested that somehow the pipe leak was my fault.  No, I would not recommend him.
     Anonymous user - 2/3/2022 - I agree with your review completely. John is a very nice person, but he does not complete large jobs. He comes on and off and leaves his equipment in people's homes. He also charges as he goes and is not transparent about costs up front. We also believe he has caused long term issues in our home and he will turn the onus on us and then asking for the dollars to repair it! We will never ever use him again.
     Sarah - 2/5/2022 - John is a one person plumber. He has an inconsistent person that assists him. So, if you want a big job done, do not contract with him. You will end up paying someone else to finish the work he doesn't do or does poorly.
