Maskless and racist. Truly horrible to be subjected to these people! The building I live in hired them to paint the hallway and stairs. Yesterday one of the two painters had his mask around his chin while working inside my apartment building. We all know that is not how to wear a mask and "professional painters" should know that there is a state-wide mask mandate. Also, there is signage on the entry doors of the apartment building saying masks are required. Today the same guy had NO mask on while working right in front of my apartment door! I told him that the building has a mask requirement and he said his mask was in the van.... That's not ok. As I walked away, the other guy called me "Yoko"... I asked him to repeat what he just said and he refused. As a person of color, I am assuming this was some odd attempt at a racial slur? And if not, he should have explained why he called me that? Neither of these painters know my name (which is not Yoko). Whatever it was, it is inappropriate and dangerous to break Oregon law by not wearing a mask and unbelievably hurtful to be a resident and have to be subjected to ethnic or racial putdowns.
