Joe, my AA sponsor at the time, knowing my financial situation, that I was on a very limited budget buying a home with little extra money, insisted I let him paint my home before I moved in. I said I couldn't afford to hire a painter. He assured me that he would only charge me for materials, because "that's what we AA people do" (direct quote). He spent 4 days sloppily painting the interior, and then requested I pay a high fee for paint & labor. He was my AA sponsor and knew my complete finances and knew he was leaving me with no savings left. Not the man I thought he was. I have moved in with no money left for an emergency.
