This company installed a new two ton split unit in my home in 2009. I have had a service contract with the company and they have come out twice a year to service and inspect the unit. On the last inspection the invoice states that I have rust on the air housing unit due to excessive moisture in the attic. I contacted the company and the people I spoke with lied and stated that the unit was six years old and that air conditioners in Florida last from eight to ten years. I then had another company come out and the drip pan was so rusted out that when removing it from the attic it literally crumbled which was not only a mess but unbelievable that the condition of the pan was so deteriorated that it looked like it had been up there for a lot longer than five or six years. There was no rust on the air housing unit but the repairman removed the cover to the air handler and verified that there was no rust. He stated that the drip pan was so weak from rust that he did not believe it would hold water and that he could not say that this was something that did not need to be repaired until May of July as Air Command had told me. If the system had overflowed into the pan it most likely would have created a much more expensive repair as it would have soaked the attic and in my opinion would have been dangerous for me to allow to remain in the condition it was when it was removed.
