Barb Sheele took advantage of us. She misrepresented Sunstar Heating and Aire. We trusted her. That was our big mistake. Hired to repair our failing air conditioning unit, her company made things worse and attempted to profit from their inept work. We’ve heard of people taking advantage of senior citizens but this is our first experience. They were always late, they left a mess, they were always smoking, etc. The list just goes on and on. The biggest issue was their inability to do what they were hired for, to repair our AC unit! The next door neighbors’ kids would have done a better job than Sunstar Heating & Aire. Finally, we hired JMAC Heating and Cooling in Mesa. They were great.

Wow, Sunstar has got to be the worst. I’m an 87 year old widower. I’ve had to fend for myself for almost 10 years now. I have seen a lot but never have experienced such a destructive group of people. They are borderline criminal. I’m surprised they are still in business and can survive with such low standards. I felt like asking them if I was on the Candid Camera TV show or something. Their employees were certainly not happy and nowhere close to being professional. At my age, it takes quite a bit to get me riled up and upset especially enough to type a complaint on a computer.

Sunstar Heating & Aire and Barb Sheele are an excellent example of a brutally broken business. Just an outright sham. We are an older couple in our 80’s and we’re not very good on the computer nor the internet. We finally got around to find the federal liens and various complaints against this company. But for us it was too late. Barb Sheele at Sunstar Heating & Aire took advantage of us and will take advantage of you too! A long wait. They said 9AM and actually didn’t arrive until 1130AM. After all of this, they tried to blame me. Their curse words are certainly not appreciated. Most disturbing is their inability to do what they said they’d do. They certainly had no problem trying to charge us. They said they fixed our furnace (heater) but it worked the same as before they worked on it. Not at all. They said, “It is working as designed.” And I replied, “To not work?” They gave me the impression they are on illegal drugs. Certainly the employees have low morale. Speed and not quality is their focus. Finally I got an attorney that resolved all of this. Also, they failed to greet us when first meeting me and my family. They kept eating and smoking while working. Avoided eye contact with us. Their technicians actually complained about the company to me. We advise avoiding these corrupt people and looking elsewhere.

My name is Peter Franklin. This company, Sunstar Heating & Aire, will be a big problem for you. If you go to the BBB site, type in their name, look under the under their Customer Reviews tab, you can read the numerous issues over the years. Additionally, if you look on sites like Facebook, Yelp, Yahoo, Topix, Yellow Pages, Super Pages, Home Advisor, Porch, Trust Link and many more, you’ll see the horrific reviews for Sunstar Heating and Aire for many years. I discovered all of this too late. If you want good service, you really need to go to an established reputable company like George Brazil, Howard Air, Hendels, Sun Devil Heating & Cooling, Croffoot Heating and Air Conditioning , etc. Sunstar Heating & Aire will try to take advantage of you.

The first indication of trouble with Barbara Sheele and Sunstar Heating Aire was a semi-hostile greeting. We always felt uncomfortable and intimidated by Barb Sheele. Her anxious first question was about how she would be paid. Not, what’s wrong, how can she help, etc. Finally, when they did show up, they were one hour late. While they were working on the unit, we went to just see how they were doing, they ignored us. Additionally, their foul choice of words was insulting. We also don’t appreciate their spitting when they talk and all smoking. Speed was more important to their service technicians versus quality and completing the job the correct way. They tried to switch one unit for another. If you are extremely desperate and have no choice, just watch these people very close.

The extremely poor experience we had with Barbara Sheele is only surpassed by the frustrating low-quality service Sunstar Heating & Aire provided. We would NOT advise anyone to use this company. After realizing our mistake, we finally called George Brazil. They fixed all of the problems Barbara Sheele and Sunstar Heating and Aire created. It's really depressing to have to deal with this. See the dent on our unit they provided "free" of charge. This was next to a pile of trash they also left for us to clean up.

Barb Sheele of Sunstar Heating & Aire is a big thief. She charged our family for services that were NOT done correctly. They ruined our air handler. They left an enormous mess with trash in our yard. This included cigarette butts. Her son Kevin Sheele is really MELVIN from the TV ads. We finally got George Brazil to come to fix all of the problems that Barb Sheele, Sunstar Heating & Aire caused. All they had to do is tell the truth. No, that was too much to ask. What a nightmare! You’ve been warned!

I thought Sunstar and Heating was a trustworthy company. I was very wrong. They worked on my air-conditioning unit at my house. They increased their original price and didn't really fix it. This is not good for a widowed senior citizen with a limited income.

To our great regret, we hired Barbara Sheele at Sunstar Heating and Aire to install a new air conditioning unit. Two days after the installation, the unit broke down. Yes, broke down and while it was over 100 degrees outside. Her comment was, “Are you sure?” “You should have called earlier.” “That’s the manufacturer’s responsibility”. “And let me know if you have any more problems and I will try to help…” Is this the type of company you want to install your air conditioner? I didn’t think so.

The service provided by SunStar Heating & Aire was of poor quality. I would not recommend this company. Their habitual extreme tardiness and lack of experienced technicians make this company undesirable. You might want to try to find somebody else.

Sunstar and Aire has a real problem keeping appointments and being on time. They didn’t bring the correct equipment so they had to come back again, late. The technician had a bad attitude and wasn’t professional. They wanted money upfront prior to showing up. Finally, they didn’t have the skills to appropriately repair our unit and still wanted to charge us the full price. To add insult to injury, they left trash on the ground. If you use Sunstar Heating and Aire, we recommend you ask for references in writing and keep a copy. I don’t think they have any.

The owners of SunStar Heating and Aire, Barbara and Kevin Sheele are documented criminals. They both have IRS liens against them. Kevin has a drug conviction and an order of protection against him. Most customers trust that somehow these types of criminals will not be allowed to be in a business. This is inaccurate thinking. Not only did Kevin Sheele do a terrible job of installing a new air conditioning unit, he also left an outright mess. I would never recommend this company to anyone. They will be your worst nightmare. With all of the many negative comments and horror stories over the years on the Internet about this company, they are going out of business. They had a choice to do business the honest way and they chose not to do that. They are dearly paying for that now.

Over the past weekend, we had Sunstar Heating and Aire come to our house to do a tune-up for our air-conditioning unit. The technician was very weak in his knowledge of our unit. He had a lack of skill and understanding. Our air-conditioning unit now makes a noise. I had to clean some of the trash he left outside by our unit. We recommend you try someone else.

This company is untrustworthy. They tried to overcharge us on a job they had already given us a written quote on. Of course, they were late every time they showed up. They also left a mess. We had a feeling they were trouble when they parked right in front of our garage door.

Out of desperation, because nobody else was available, our family made the terrible mistake of calling these people. We have several children and animals, we should have gone to a hotel and contacted companies from there. Sunstar Heating and Aire installed a new unit and two days later it broke. Their response was, “Oh well, I guess you’ll have to buy another new one”. I instantly hung up and called somebody else. The new company fixed everything perfectly. Sunstar Heating and Aire is NOT a reliable company. I later found out that the owners of Michael R. Sheele, Barbara A. Sheele and Kevin R. Sheele, have numerous IRS federal tax liens against them. Serial Number: 162700804 for $10,558.18, Serial Number: 869605888 for $2,466.50 and 869507621 for $12,530.09. IRS LIEN UNIT PHONE NUMBER: 1 800 829 7650. Also, Kevin R. Sheele the technician/owner that came out to my house, was convicted of drugs, Maricopa County Superior Court docket# CR2004-042993 and has an order of protection against him docket# CV1997-092299 CV1998-092447 CV2004-010717 CV2005-009949. You can go to Maricopa.gov under “Case History” and then “Criminal Cases” to find this info. Learn from our big mistake. These people should be ashamed of themselves. They are truly disgusting. Yes, it is also our fault for not doing our homework. It is really scary that the State of Arizona and AZ BBB doesn’t care either. They are definitely on the side of the business.
